Transposing from Concert Pitch

• Jan 31, 2019 - 23:31

Is there a way for me to take the concert pitch music I received from the Church choir director and turn it into Bb and Eb versions with this program. The Director does not read music and basically plays by ear. He states "here are the dots" that you need to play but I don't want you to play the melody....improvise! Play chords and such in between the melody like a guitar but we are woodwinds and need to first change the music over so we don't have to transpose and improvise at the same time. Thanks for your help.

Hi, when you have in MuseScore the first line, it's for you in UT, in C, enter 2 news staves by using Instruments in EDIT menu (or press I) choose for exemple Trumpet (sib instrument and alto Sax (Mib). these 2 staves are now under the first stave. If there is only notes, without name of chords like Cm7 or Bbm simply copy and paste the first on the 2nd and the 3rd, Musescore transpose and write the new flats or sharps. Use "concert pitch button to see the 2 solutions, all the staves in the same tonality or every stave in his tonality only.

If there is chords like I said (Cm) you must use transpose for transposing notes and chords.

If necessary transpose the result 1 octave higher or lower , using after select, CTRL+ up or down arrow

Audiveris is the program used to import PDF files only. It is particular about what it scans. If it's successful, it will probably save time. I wouldn't count on transposing instruments to be imported correctly, but MuseScore would probably make fixing this easy.
