Second time bars within the current bar for individual parts.
Was wondering if there is a facility to produce a second time bar within the current bar for just an individual part as shown below in the image. In this score the drum part has a second time bar in brackets with a "2x" above, while the other parts remain unaffected.
I can only think of the possibility of changing the number of beats in the bar for the drum part without changing it for all the other instruments but I don't think that's currently possible. Does anyone else have any ideas?
Even if it's just a visual fix and doesn't work audially (mine above doesn't work audially, but I suppose it hasn't been implemented because it would screw up the very idea of how music time works) that's fine.

I have an idea for a visual only fix.
Create measure rests in both voices 1 & 2, select the rests select the menu Add->Tuplets->Other... (version 2 use Notes->Tuplets->Other...) and set the ration to 8/4 and select none for brackets and numbers. You now have 8 quarter notes in the measure so you can enter both rhythms. I would select the measure, click notes in the inspector and remove the check from "Play" so the notes will be silenced. The parentheses can be found in the master palette (press Z).

Looks good! Thanks for the suggestion! I don't really get the need to make separate voices - I just did it in one. Then I can make the tuplet bracket invisible.
Anyhow, if I did do that successfully I think musescore might just roll right over the tuplet and have a half-bar rest anyway, so silencing the notes doesn't matter too much. Thanks so much for your help!

I think you need the voices because some of the percussion notes are in voice 1 and some in voice 2 (if I understand correctly what I see). I'll admit I'm not the most knowledgeable on Percussion notation in MuseScore.

An alternative, if you are using MuseScore 3, is to use the new "Cutaway" feature on staffs. And add a second cuttaway staff where only the second version is added. Then you will get two versions of that measure.

Mike - Ahh yes I did realise that's what you meant when I did it later on - I first tested it on the bass since it was a simpler instrument to deal with. I'm happy to say that its working out quite well.

Unfortunately I still prefer working with musescore 2, since 3 is heavier on my computer and a lot more prone to bugs or crashing. When it does stabilise, I'll try your idea out, so thanks loads!

If you find bugs in MuseScore 3, please report them, otherwise we cannot fix them! We have fixed hundreds since the original release, so if you haven't tried lately, feel free to update and try again, and then if you still see a bug somewhere, please report it so we can fix that one too.
