MuseScore 3.0.2 crashes on saving

• Feb 18, 2019 - 23:11

When I try to save a score, the application crashes. When I start it again, it says the previous session quit unexpectedly and offers to restore the session. Usually, but not always, this brings up the score I was working on. When this first happened, I still had version 2 installed, but then uninstalled that. The problem persisted through several system restarts. Finally I uninstalled 3.0.2 and reinstalled it. The problem persists.

Uninstalling version 2 won't help to fix version 3 crashes in any form or shape for sure.
Reinstalling only in very few occasions ever helped, much more success is to be expacted from a factotry reset.
If it does not, we need more information, like what Operating system you are using and the/a score causing the crash, and steps to reproduce

Thanks for the reply!

"Revert to factory settings" didn't help.

My OS is Windows 10, version 1803, build 17134.590.

It happens with any score.

Here are the steps:

  1. Create sample score. (I just put a whole note in the first measure.)
  2. Save with Ctrl-S or Save As.
  3. Start to type file name.
  4. Application crashes.
  5. Restart application.
  6. Dialog: "The previous session quit unexpectedly. Restore session?"
  7. Click OK.
  8. Application starts normally with Start Center (I have it configured to do this), but sample score does not appear.

Step 4 happens even when I've made a change to an existing (pre-saved) score and am saving it.

Step 6 happens inconsistently.

I hope this helps! I know MuseScore is free and I didn't pay for it, but it would be nice to have it work properly. :)
