Playback failure
Basically anytime I try to playback a piece with maybe four instruments or more playing at once, it glitches and doesn't play through smoothly. Same thing happens when it approaches complex rhythms and this was only after the update to musescore 3

Which version of MuseScore are you running? On which Operating System (Windows? Mac?)
Update to musescore 3.0.4, let us know.

I'm using a Windows surface, but I'm not seeing how to update past version 3.0.2

Why not? Using the version from the Windoes Store? If so: you're right, there's currently only 3.0.2 available there, but a new version is in the works. You can however install 3.0.4 also from the MuseScore download page
Meanwhile, feel free to attach the score you are having trouble with so we can investigate.
