multi-measure rest
How do I add multi-measure rests? I have tried both checked and unchecked in format>style, I varied the "minimum number of measures", but to no avail. Hitting M does nothing. I put in all notes first. Any ideas?

Can you attach here the score you are having problems with?
I'm guessing you didn't actually leave the empty measures. "M" doesn't add new measures to your score, it just converts existing empty measures to multimeasure rests. So, if you want an eight-bar rest, have eight empty bars first, then press "M".
If you look at a full score (or any view with more than 1 instrument), all instruments' measures must be empty, or no multi-measure rests will be made. If multi-measure rests are possible, M toggles them.
