I am having the same problem. I sent in two messages on the Contact Us page. It is definitely a bug. I completely removed the program/app from my computer and then reloaded. Same thing happened. I am on a MacBook Pro 2017.

Of course it is a bug, and even a wide known one. See above...
I tried double-clicking on an .mscx file - crashed
From a Terminal set current directory to "Applications" and tried starting it via "mscore" "mscore3" "MuseScore" "./MuseScore"
system doesn't recognize those keywords.

Same case to me with MBA 11", MS3 factory reset,
tried to erase the MS3 from 'application folder', re-install MuseScore-3.0.4.dmg
still crash....

indeed, I give up IOS/AN Musescore app since they changed quite a lot to an old game.
BTW, I'm using mac and ms-surface laptop. Sigh.....
pls. don't make me give up the MS3 laptop/desktop version, p-l-e-a-s-e.
I don't crash until I close. Every time I close Musescore it crashes, and doesn't shut down correctly.

Know issue, #281867: "MuseScore quit unexpectedly" when closing MuseScore 3.0.[1-5] on macOS with a MIDI device, will be fixed in next release
