Can't listen to the scores

• Jul 30, 2014 - 13:05

Hello everybody!

I have installed musescore yesterday un my new computer working on Ubuntu, yet I can't listen to my scores (I have installed the optional plugin "fluid soundfont gm" thinking it would help solving the issue, without any change).

Thanks!

Jeremy

Does the cursor move so that MuseScore looks like it's playing?

Have you used MuseScore to enter notes; and, if yes, do you hear the notes as you enter them... or, if you click on a note already entered, can you hear it ('Play notes when editing' must be checked in the Note Entry tab of menu item: Edit / Preferences; also at the toolbar, near the playback transport buttons)?

Check volume on:
1. Speakers
2. Sound card / sound chip / operating system software

In MuseScore:
Check the volume settings here:
1. menu item: Display / Play Panel to set volume for score
2. menu item: Display / Mixer to set volume for each instrument
3. menu item: Display / Synthesizer - look at 'SoundFont' to see if a soundfont is enabled. (Default is TimGM6mb.sf2)

Also, check for dynamic markings in the score (eg. pppp), or try a different score.

Regards.
