Failure of Musescore 3 in Windows 10

• Mar 12, 2019 - 10:42

I upgraded to Musescore 3 (without removing Musescore 2) and found that M3 would not respond. It gave an audible warning as if a dialogue box is open. M3 took over as default application for all .MSCZ files.
After uninstalling M3, it still remains the default app.
How do I get Musescore 3 past the "pinging" stage??

You need to either reinstall version 2 to reassociate the files with MuseScore 2 or change the associations manually. In windows right click the file, choose open with, then choose another app and find MuseScore 2 and remember to check the always use this program box.
