JACK Audio Server for MIDI clock output?

• Apr 7, 2019 - 18:09

I would like to sync my drum machine's tempo to my score.
Sending sync clock out over USB seems like a very simple task to me, but I have no idea how involved writing the code would be.
I understand that MuseScore's developers haven't wanted to delve deep into MIDI capabilities, and I haven't seen much demand out there for this one (minor?) feature.
The JACK Audio Server dialog offers a Timebase master, but although I've downloaded the program, I haven't installed it yet because, frankly, everything I've read on its website and in MuseScore's online documentation scares me into thinking I'd be opening another nightmarish Windows 10 can of worms.

Can anyone with experience in JACK offer some reassurance that it's not intended only for persons familiar with C++, HTML, and the like?
Will it allow sending out the clock signal, even if that's all I intend to use it for?

If responding affirmatively to the above, please include whatever tips you have time for.
Much appreciated,
J. John MixSon
