pp crescendo fff diminuendo pp
I'm writing some strengthening exercises for brass. For "long tones", I want each measure to have pp, then a crescendo, then fff, then diminuendo, then pp. Is that possible? It seems I can only add a dynamic marking to the right of a crescendo/diminuendo.

It's possible starting in 3.1, for which you can download the beta already.
To enter the crescendo and decrescendo you need to put rests in an unused voice (assuming these are whole notes) so you can anchor them properly. You can make the rests invisible so they don't print.
As Marc indicated, this plays back properly starting in version 3.1-beta.
