Stretch changes spontaneously reversing

I have seen this on several different scores now. I use the keyboard shortcut to reduce stretch up to the point where the number of systems reduces. The result seems fine, but after about a minute the stretch increases of its own accord, increasing the number of systems again. This does not happen on all scores, but on the ones where it does I cannot get rid of it.
