Capablity to edit/change symbols without to have to erase them

• May 7, 2019 - 03:46

Hi, gang!!!

I don't know if I missed something in the way, but...

Today, when I want to change some symbol, let's say, from p (piano) to f (forte), I have to erase the p symbol. first...

I wonder... Why not to let to edit/change it "in situ", without to have to erase it first? ???

I'm talking about to select the symbol, and immediately, to have a menu/panel which offers use the possibility to edit/change the symbol, without to have to erase it first.

Of course, it is valid to all the symbols we can use in the score.

Just an idea!!!

Blessings and Greetings from Chile, South America!!!

You can change the dynamics by editing it like any other text. press ctrl+shift+ the letter to enter a dynamics symbol. You will then need to update the velocity since it's not automatic.

+1. Possibly related: it seems that entering a dynamic breaks your selection, i.e. after selecting a note and entering a dynamic you cannot arrow-key your way back to the note (or anywhere else; alt-up/down-arrow is nonfunctional while the dynamic is selected; arrow keys just move the dynamic itself). Conversely, after adding an articulation to a note, left- or right-arrow reselects the note itself. This is VERY useful; I would love the same with dynamics as it would save time over mousing or ctl-f to return to your original selection. And perhaps this could provide a pathway for implementing something like what Juan is describing?

With a dynamic selected using Alt + left arrow brings you back to the note. Alt + right arrow selects next element. Not so with articulations or ornaments. There you can go to the next/previous note or element but not back to the articulation.
