Separate the automatic "advance" actions

• May 14, 2019 - 21:10

Hi, Gang!!!

One thing I have seen repeatedly asked here is about the annoying automatic jump to the next possible note, when we are inputting notes.

It is true that we can to put OFF the automatic advance, but... It is not the ideal thing (because that action is intended to the playback time of the piece, ONLY).

This issue is about when we are inputting notes ONLY.

Let's say, we are putting a new whole note into the last bar of a line, which is also the last line of some page. Musescore, automatically jumps to the next bar, which is on a new line, on a new page. BUT... We want (and I think we have all the rights) to input another notes in the same last bar where we put the whole note!!!

It is really annoying to have to back, MANUALLY, to the previous bar and page!!!

That is the issue we are asking to change!!!

In other words, when we are inputting note(s), we should have the capability to choose to jump to the next bar or... STAY IN THE SAME BAR, WITHOUT TO GO FORWARD (not the today automatic advance).

I insist..., IT IS NOT RELATED with the automatic "monitoring" of the score when we are playing the piece.

Just an idea!!!

Blessings and Greetings from Chile, South America!!!

Note you don't have to do anything to enter another note even after the page follows the cursor - just press the appropriate shortcut to add a note tot he chord, change voice, etc - it works perfeclty. Or hit cursor left. So it's not really particularly difficult. You can also change to continuous view if the line breaks are distracting.

That said, sure, some day there could be separate buttons for this. Feel free to file a formal suggestion to the issue tracker.
