Change in playback sound after updating to 3.1

I recently downloaded the suggested update to 3.1, and now the sound of the instruments when I play back my scores are all wacky. It automatically changed the instrument sounds to the ones with "Expr." (I don't know what that is an abbreviation of), but even after I changed them all back to normal the playback is still strange, giving every note a decrescendo after a strong attack, like a forte-piano.

How do I get back the playback sounds I was getting before?
