Normally you enter notes and rests left to right, just as you read them. The exception are grace notes, where you enter the main note first then the grace notes, and the grace notes are entered from closest to the note to furthest.

If that doesn't help, please explain in more detail what you are trying to do.

note inquiry2 Kopie.jpg I got the first finished, start the middle part, the moment I set the semiquaver it joins up with the one before. I start with inserting the rests in semiquaver duration, or with quaver value ? I have seen it in the course, but can`t find it. Grace notes are ok. I can manage. I want to transcribe this piping tune for learning to use it for another I am transcribing from an mp3

Would be helpful to have the Mastering MuseScore offline, as I am out and about alot without the net.

Sorry, but it still isn't clear what you mean. The above should be entered just as I described, eft to right, except the grace notes. In fact, I'd recommend entering the whole measure with no grace notes, then go back and add the grace notes, although entering them as you go can work too if you know what you are doing.

As it is, my best guess is you missed the augmentation dot on the first sixteenth note (semiquaver) - that would indeed cause the note that should have started beat 2 to start instead at the end of beat 1 and thus be beamed together with it.
