Sizing GUI

• Jul 26, 2019 - 03:22

I am operating on a Windows Surface and I cannot seem to be able to resize the "bars" that house the GUI buttons, they are distractingly large and I want them smaller. Additionally, it would be great if the text for "Palettes" menu and the "File, Edit + et cetera" bar could shrink as well. (Pictures attached, shown with -x at .5 , which I think is where I want the end result to fit with)

I've worked through the command line using -x and that only resizes the buttons, and the -D option seemed unhelpful. Reverting to factory did nothing, as it was installed this way.

Is there another command I can use? I can rearrange bars but not re-size.
Thanks.

You say "-D" was unhelpful - what arguments did you try, and what effect did it have? Did you try changing the settings in Edit / Preferences?

You can also try setting the various Qt-related environment variables QT_SCALE_FACTOR and QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR - you can do a web search for more info.

Using the -D option yields a micro-sized sheet of music to edit on start (attached).

The preferences option is what I was looking for, thank you.

Is there a way to downsize the "untitled" bar? It doesn't seem to scale with the rest of the buttons or with -x or -D.

You still didn't say what argument you are specifying to "-D". If the score shows tiny, that suggests to me you were selecting too small a value.

If by "untitled" you mean the tab showing the name of the score that looks to be the same size font as everything else, so it should respond to the same font settings in Edit / Preferences.

Really, though, you shouldn't normally need to do any of this if your font and high DPI scaling settings are set correctly in your OS. I needed to set one of the environment variables I mentioned to get best results on my system, but I don't need to mess with anything from within MuseScore.
