Disable midi input echo and window get focus on midi.

• Aug 11, 2019 - 00:39

By default, when 'Midi Input' is enabled but 'note input' is not checked, the program plays all the notes I input from the midi keyboard. And with my audio configuration it has some delay so I hear the notes from my keyboard and also the echo from the computer which is annoying.

(It has nothing to do with the option "Play notes when editing". Actually if this option is not checked, the program plays the notes only when not editing.)

Furthermore if the program window is not focused, when I play a note on the keyboard, the program gets focus!

So each time I finish entering notes, I have to disable 'Midi Input' to use my midi keyboard.

I don't know if that's a feature or a bug, but at any case it would be useful to have an option to disable it.

Thank you in advance.

Did you ever find a solution to disabling Musescore from getting focus upon MIDI input? That "feature" pretty much made Musescore unusable for me...

I'd very much like this too. I'd like my midi-keyboard input to be completely mute. Something like a "Don't play midi input" checkbox. Optimally this would be separate from "Play Notes When Editing" so that you could still hear notes when editing with the computer keyboard, but not from the midi keyboard (if "Don't play midi" is checked of course).

I also have a problem with this. I have lots of probelms with the MuseScore MIDI synth. It basically never plays nice if you're trying to use a MIDI controller. It plays what ever channel has at least two notes selected or the staff 1 instrument and completely ignores the channel information from the controller. Which is pretty much never what I want.

Right now I'm cutting it out of the sound chain altogether. I patch my MIDI controller to a DAW channel I actually want to hear, and the MuseScore MIDI to another DAW channel for playback and disconnect the . I can mute the MuseScore channel, to keep it from playing except when I'm actually playing back the score, but this focus thing is just annoying an unnecessary.

Devs, this area really needs some work. Can I contribute on this?

Same problem here. In my case I find it annoying when trying to compose music using the manual real-time note entry. If I turn off the sound on my keyboard and listen to the notes I play via musescore, the delay is too annoying. But I still want musescore audio so that I can orient myself in the rhythm using the metronome that plays, so turning off musescore audio is not an option.
Would very much appreciate "disable Midi input playback" button like wewk suggested.

I also find this behavior problematic. I would like to disable the notes that play on midi input while NOT in "enter note" mode. A checkbox as suggested above would be great: "disable notes on MIDI input"
