Tremolos into played notes

• Aug 21, 2019 - 10:28

Hi !

I've been looking to change written tremolos into played notes.
Does anybody know a simple way to do that ?
I tried to export to midi, which kind of works, but I lose all dynamic or articulation information...

Thank you !!

Alex

For single note tremolos, replace the note by a set 8th, 16th, 32nd, 64th notes of the same pitch spanning the entire duration of the original note (depending on which tremolo you used)

No, there is no tool. By 'set' I mean subsquent notes of same pitch, the proper duration as per the tremolo type, and the proper number to cover the same duration as the original note did.
It might be possible to write a plugin to do this.

For 2-note tremolos it is similar, just alternating bewteen the 2 pitches

Unless you are rewriting the score for non-string instruments, it's not necessary to convert tremolos to individual notes, and most professional musicians are familiar with tremolos and know how to play them on their instrument, though in a transcribed song (from say violin to oboe) many tremolos are simply dropped since the other musicians are not used to playing measure after measure of repeated 32nd notes. Sustaining several consecutive half notes would be preferable for the instruments rather than playing tremolos.

Perhaps you could explain your purpose and someone could give you a good idea of what would be best.
