musescore is having a tantrum
when i click on a note it wont play it and i cant add spacers, articulations or anything. it says that nothing is selected. I've tried closing and opening it many MANY times, even restarting my whole laptop. please help its VERY urgent.

I can't think of one thing that would lead to those symptoms so I would suggest that you revert to factory settings under the help menu.
If that doesn't help, please attach the score you are having trouble with. I suppose it could be badly corrupted. Anything I could think of that might seem to cause an issue resembling like what you describe (eg, accidentally disabling voice 1 in the Selection Filter) would reset itself on restart.
