Can you explain what you mean about a yellow palette background? I don't see yellow anywhere except for tooltips. A couple of screenshots comparing what you are seeing in 2 vs 3 might help us understand what you are asking.

It seems you must have created a custom workspace or otherwise modified your default preferences. What workspace do you see listed at the bottom of the palette? The two options we provide are "Basic" and "Advanced", and neither would have that background by default. But it's also possible you changed things in Edit / Preferences.
Either way, if you now have decided you don't like the customizations you have made, Help / Revert to Factory Settings will reset things back to the defaults.
