A couple of questions about lines and trills

• Sep 22, 2019 - 02:12
  1. In the Lines palette (see attachment), I don't see the one thing I'm looking for: a line (either solid, dotted, or dashed) that starts open-ended on the left side and ends with a small downward 90-degree turn. It would be used for indicating the end point for particular events. Is there such a line somewhere else beside the Line palette?

  2. Also in the Lines palette is the trill with attached wavy line. Is there any way to stick an accidental between the "tr" and the wavy line (in order to define the interval between the trilled notes)? I realize the alternative is to use the Ornaments palette where the "tr" and the wavy line are separate elements.

Thanks!

Richard

1.) You may achieve the desired result: Add a regular line to a score, select it and in the inspector make sure begin hook is none and that end hook is set to 90°. You may add this back to a custom workspace via dragging it back to your desired palette with CTRL+SHIFT+DRAG.

2.) No, not to the trill element itself like with the above line mentioned. You may add a sharp character though via the master palette by pressing 'Z' while selecting said note and adding a sharp: Press 'Z', Make sure symbols is selected on the bottom left portion, type 'sharp' in the search box, double click desired symbol while your note is selected, then drag it manually to where you'd like. Kind of tedious, but it works visually. An alternative for playback and in a sense is quicker when you get used to it: instead, add an acciaccatura to the trill note: press '/' which is the default shortcut for this. Change the note's pitch to where your accidental is desired to be as a tone, then hide the acc. note (to make this easier, press 'w' on the acc. note so that it becomes a whole note: it won't change anything important but will make it easier to make invisible since it won't have a stem/slash), and then drag it's sharp to where you'd like around the Trill line. Plus, this will force Musescore to recognize a sharp so that playback will be actual, just don't forget to add a natural to any following notes that fall on the same pitch as the hidden acciaccatura note.

Hope these help
Peace.
