Help with odd timing.

• Sep 22, 2019 - 07:14

I'm not sure if this belongs here, but I'm looking for something to help me get this timing right. I've been going mad over this for several hours. Is there something that will allow me to tap or click along to a rhythm to record notes and their timings on a measure? I'm having a really hard time writing it as it's never quite right. If you want to help with the song itself, it takes place at 1:18 in Puppet by Thousand Food Krutch. Thank you much!

While the real-time modes exist, it still is going to be necessary to understand the basics about how to notate rhythm in order to get it right. Something I find helpful is to use an app (there are dozens available) that can loop and slow down audio fragments, so I can work on a couple of measures at a time and practice counting along. I will sometimes write beats down on paper, 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & | 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & etc, then tap along while singing the rhythm and determining which beats the notes fall on. It's a skill like any other that can be learned through practice.
