Moving a rest from the end of a measure

• Oct 3, 2019 - 22:03

I am having trouble moving a rest from where Muscore put it by default to the second beat.
If moving it is not possible, how do I insert the eighth note rest? I did not see the notation for this rest.

to enter a rest select the duration and press 0. The rest will replace whatever is there, just like a note does. If there is any beats left in the measure, they will be turned into shorter rests.

It's important to realize MsueScore expects you to enter notes and rests left to right. So if you forgot to enter the rest when you were first entering those notes, you will have to move the notes to the right. This is easy enough, though. Select the notes you want to move (eg. click the first, shift+click the last), Ctrl+X to cut, then enter the rest if necessary (select the eighth duration, then press 0 or right-click to enter the rest), then click where you want to move the notes and Ctrl+V to paste. In the future, just remember to enter the rests while entering the notes to avoid the need to later go back and move things.
