Multiple Voicing help

• Oct 7, 2019 - 18:55

Hey, I've been using MuseScore for a while now, I've been able to set up multiple voices for ages now (Blue and green on one stave, so I don't need help with that), however I want to turn these into separate parts.

For example I compose Flute one and two on one stave, is there anyway to separate these into two different parts, so it stays one stave on the master stave, but becomes 2 parts in the individual lists.

Sorry if this is unclear.

As long as you have the two instruments in their own voices as you say you can crate parts for each instrument.

Select the main score
Use File->Parts
In parts click New - A new part will be created called Part. Change the name to something appropriate (like Flute 1)
On the bottom right side select the appropriate instrument (Flute in our example) and click the + button
On the bottom right side click the triangle to the left of the instrument name. This will allow boxes for the 4 possible voices to appear. Check only the appropriate box for that instrument (usually voice 1 for the first instrument and voice 2 for the second).

Repeat this process for the second instrument with the appropriate names (Flute 2) and voices (voice 2).

If you are making parts for all instruments in the score you can press the Generate button. In our flute example, you can select the flute and change the part name to Flute 1 and check only voice 1 the click new for flute 2, select the appropriate options then use the up arrow buttons in the parts dialog to move it below flute 1.
