Plugin Development (Newbie)

Hello,

is it possible to advise on skills/knowledge/requirements to be able to develop a plugin to use with Musescore? I have very little coding experience but have enjoyed any dabbling that I have done in the past although never with a real purpose so other things take priority. I would like to see if a plugin can be developed that will change a chord name depending on a couple of variables (which may also depend on a couple of variables!). Do I need to know C++ or Qt Creator? Am I best to just ask someone who knows what they're doing? :)
