MuseScore Internal Mixer/Synthesizer with more capabilities

• Oct 9, 2019 - 20:14

Hi, Gang!!!

I know it isn't something related with the main target of MuseScore (the visual presentation of the music score), but... I think it is important to the people (like me) that uses this awesome software because we don't have enough money to hire a full human musician orchestra.

Today, the MuseScore internal synthesizer/mixer have some limitations that... I don't think there are full related with the today computer world technology.

Some examples:

1) The MuseScore internal mixer "MIDI Port", on each channel, doesn't have any useful capability.

2) The MuseScore internal mixer doesn't have an easy way to choose MIDI patches/instruments because the shown list is... Well, you know it is NOT comfortable to the user eyes.

3) Today, the MuseScore internal synthesizer only gives us the right simple not dynamics with the "standard" MuseScore general soundfont. If we use other soundfont (Timbres of Heaven, GeneralUser, etc), this characteristic doesn't work.

And... There are others, you know.

Well, for now, I want to know the development team people adds something to fix the first point (about the mixer "MIDI port" box).

My request is so "simple" (Hi, Hi, Hi): To provide MuseScore with the capability to make and to use more than one internal synthesizer, at a time.

I mean: today MuseScore makes and uses just one internal synthesizer = one MIDi port (whatever the number we put on that box).

What I'm asking is... More than one MuseScore internal synthesizers!!!

So... The MIDI port #1 would be the synthesizer #1; Port #2 would be synthesizer #2... and so and on.

This new feature will let the user can use more than one soundfont file (one with each new synthesizer) at the same time.

Let's say, think about COPLAND's Fanfare for the Common Man:

Mixer Channel #1 - MIDI Port #1 - Synthesizer #1 with MuseScore_General soundfont - F Horn

Mixer Channel #2 - MIDI Port #1 - Synthesizer #1 with MuseScore_General soundfont - Trumpet

Mixer Channel #3 - MIDI Port #1 - Synthesizer #1 with MuseScore_General soundfont - Trombone

Mixer Channel #4 - MIDI Port #1 - Synthesizer #1 with MuseScore_General soundfont - F Tuba

Mixer Channel #5 - MIDI Port #2 - Synthesizer #2 with Timbres_of_Heaven soundfont - Gong!!!

Mixer Channel #6 - MIDI Port #3 - Synthesizer #3 with GeneralUser soundfont - Timbal

So, we would be capable to use all those fantastic soundfonts combination at once!!!

Well, today we can combine the soundfonts, yes. BUT... We can use only one internal synthesizer at once. So... We have only one too long and annoyed instrument list, in the mixer.

I'm talking about to be able to use more than one internal synthesizer (using the mixer MIDI Port boxes) with the idea to have more than one different list of instruments, not the today too much long and mixed list.

Well, the full goal would be if this MIDI Port box would have the full original capability of MIDI Port parameter: To use more than one external MIDI device.

But... It isn't my main point, here.

Am I asking too much? ???

Well, just a mad idea from a mad man.

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!
