Musescore 3 issue after implementing .sf2 file to a score

• Oct 10, 2019 - 15:39

My goal last night was to implement an MP3 to play alongside a score. I found this comment detailing instructions for using the program Viena to create an sf2 file which I could, using the synthesizer, attach it to my score. I have not yet figured out how to use/create an instrument which will use my sound at the correct time, but that is for another thread.

Upon loading the soundfont and pressing "Save to Score," I realized that in the Viena program, I only loaded a sample and neglected to create an instrument and preset. I promptly deleted the sf2 file from C:\Users\akunk\OneDrive\Documents\MuseScore3\SoundFonts
I then tried to create a different soundfont with the same program while following the instructions. I attempted to load the new soundfont onto my score by dragging the new .sf2 file into C:\Users\akunk\OneDrive\Documents\MuseScore3\SoundFonts once again. In that time, I had closed the MuseScore 3 program (I can't exactly remember why, I think the MDL sound was being weird and restarting the program seems to fix it).

I tried reopening the program after copying the new sf2 file. The blue splash screen came up, no issues there, then I was greeted with a start center and no Musescore. The program itself is invisible, although it appears in my taskbar and task manager. Ending the process, I tried to restart the program multiple times. This did not fix the issue. I thought that maybe the .sf2 file had corrupted the score, so I deleted it from the SoundFonts folder and tried again. Same thing happened. Also tried to load a different score with far fewer instruments, it was just a synthesizer sound test. Again, same issue.

I used the Win+R option to start the program by reverting to factory settings.
I used Uninstall MuseScore and redownloaded version 3.2.3. Again, same issue and none of my scores would load (at least if they did, then they were invisible).

My computer is up to date with Windows 10 and it's possible that this may be the issue but I am not sure, I'm just troubleshooting at this point. I also updated Intel PRO/1000 LAN Adapter Software in Lenovo System Update and restarted my computer.
