Single Note Dynamics doesn't work with external MIDI devices

• Oct 29, 2019 - 19:31

Hi, Gang!!!

I use MuseScore 3.2.3 with Ubuntu Studio 19.10 (64 bits Linux), using Jack Audio Connections Kit.

I've been testing the "new" Single Note Dynamics of MuseScore 3.2.3 and... After a week of test this, with 4 different external MIDI devices (Casio, Yamaha, Korg and Behringer), the definitive final result is:

THE SINGLE NOTE DYNAMICS WORKS SO FINE WITH THE INTERNAL MUSESCORE SYNTHESIZER (using the MuseScore_General.sf3 soundfont file), BUT...

IT DOESN'T WORK WITH AN EXTERNAL MIDI SYNTHESIZER, AT ALL.

In other words... I assume that it is due to the using of the CC11 MIDI parameter is not an Universal Standard to get Single Note Dynamics, so...

The very weird and curious thing is that the general dynamics of any piece (pp, mf, f, fff, etc) is audible in all the external MIDI devices, but not in just one single note!!!

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

Hi, reddiesel41264!!!

I had the problem days ago, but...

I discovered that I can get it with this MuseScore Synthesizer parameters:

(In the Dynamics Tab of the Synthesizer)

Dynamics Way......... By default (single note dynamics and velocity)

CC to use.................. CC 11

My external MIDI Device (Casio CTK-601) produces the dynamics change as it is expected.

Here is a sample to hear it:
