Problems with external device since Monday, Nov, 25, 2019 Ubuntu upgrade

• Nov 27, 2019 - 20:49

Hi, Gang!!!

I use MuseScore 3.2.3 with Ubuntu Studio 19.10 (64 bits Linux).

I use Jack Audio Connection Kit to interface all audio and MIDI software and internal/external devices.

Since the last Monday, November, 25, 2019 Ubuntu upgrading process, I cannot to get MuseScore "plays" in my external MIDI keyboard (Casio CTK-601). Also, MuseScore doesn't recognize when I play a key into that external device.

It is not something related with the MIDI cable connection and/or the external MIDI device itself, because I tested it with RoseGarden (a Linux MIDI software sequencer) and I can play and record using my Casio external MIDI synthesizer from and to RoseGarden so fine!!!

Up the last Sunday, I could use it with MuseScore without any problem.

I didn't change any parameter into Jack, MuseScore, Ubuntu or any other configuration inside my PC. So...

The curious thing is that last monday upgrading process was not related (up to my knowledge) with audio and/or video. So...

I don't know what to do with this.

What could it be? ???

Blessings and Greetings from Chile!!!

I think I found the solution to this!!!

Don't ask me why, but... The last upgrading changed a parameter into the qjackctl GUI.

The parameter is a box called: MIDI DRIVER.

After to test with all the possibilities, I found the only one to work fine with MuseScore is the option: RAW.

Apparently (I'm not sure), that option is not the default option of Jack so... Some upgrading seems to change this to the option: NONE.

Now, I can use my external MIDI device from and to MuseScore through Jack!!!
