too much space between notes
Hi. Can someone tell me how to reduce the space between notes? They're spread quite far apart. I've tried the decrease stretch option and I've tried setting the spacing in Measure Properties, but nothing changes. Thank you.

You just need to delete the system breaks at the end of each line...

Yeah but then there are too many measures. I am now wondering if there a way to treat a half note like a quarter note (for spacing purposes only)?
Is there a Musescore option to space all notes equidistant, regardless of value?
Also for this piece, make the first measure a pickup measure in 1 / 4.

"wondering if there a way to treat a half note like a quarter note (for spacing purposes only)?"
That's more or less what you get in the image above, in the second system without any system breaks.
"Is there a Musescore option to space all notes equidistant, regardless of value?"
I don't think so, other than cramming notes together by reducing the stretch overall.
"Also for this piece, make the first measure a pickup measure in 1 / 4."
Place the pickup note on the first beat, then change the Measure Properties so that the length of the measure is 1/4 instead of 4/4. Also: tick the "Exclude from measure count" checkbox for the pickup measure.

Thanks as well for the info! Best of luck.

Having all notes equidistant is incorrect notation, so there is no option to do that automatically, but you can always play with the spacing in the Inspector if you're creating your own experimental notation.
As for just generally changing the spacing, see the setting by that name in Format / Style / Measure.

Thanks! When I deleted only the first system break, the rest lined up nicely.
