Guitar tablature

• Dec 20, 2019 - 14:17

I'm new to Musescore and I'm wondering if it's possible to convert my guitar sheet music to tablature notation. I have tried adding accoustic guitar tab and the tab lines appear below the standing music lines on the page. I can't get any further than that after going down the reset to template route. I don't even know if I'm making sense here. Any advice will be appreciated.

Strictly to convert:
Press "I" (or menu Edit/Instruments)
In the right column, change the "Staff type" (see dropdown list), so for Simple Tab or Common or Full depending your wish.

Hmm, not sure at all if it works as is. Apparently your score is the result of a PDF conversion, right?
First, you have to change instrument by right-clicking on the first staff/ Staff properties/ "Instrument Change"/ and so, choose Guitar in the instrument list.
Once this is done, if you only want to convert the first staff to Tablature, do the simple operation I described above (via Editing Instruments, and changing staff type)
If you want two staves to be displayed, the first one as standard, the second one in Tablature, then you have to add a Tablature staff (always in "I") whether it is linked or not.
If difficulties continue, attach this score (and not a simple picture) for help.

I think it's worked...by trial and error. It is a PDF conversion. The tab ridiculously far up the neck of the guitar but I don't think that I can expect any better. I'm attaching the PDF and a screenshot of what I ended up with. There are no copyright issues. This was a free download. Thank you for your advice.
