PDF import seems useless
I have tried importing pdf, but you can see the result down below. Is there any free alternative to MuseScores that does well on converting image to sheet music?

What MuseScore offers is a non-configurable non-optimized version of Audiveris.
You are free to install Audiveris locally and play with its many configuration options.
