drum notation problems
I'm having problems with drum notation. Each time I try to add a snare or any other drum to the already written cymbal I lose the original cymbal. I'm using the same note value as for the cymbals. e.g. I have a cymbal pattern and try to add a bass drum on the first note I lose the cymbal note. I'm unable to have two nets on the one beat. I'm obviously doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Are you using voices? For example, voice 1 for hands and voice 2 for feet.
If so, see:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices
If you simply wish to add another note to an existing one (in the same voice), press Shift + [A–G].

I was foolishly unaware of the voice option but thank you for pointing me in that direction. I will give it a shot when I get a moment and let you know how I get on. Thanks again.
See https://musescore.org/en/node/300139. It's an unintended side effect of a recent change to the main palettes, expect an update in the next few days to fix it.
Meanwhile, you can enter the notes using the keyboard shortcuts shown in the palette, or use the trick I suggest in that thread of doing a "slight drag" from the palette to fool MuseSocre into changing the palette icon without adding a note to the score.

Thanks so much. I'll give it a shot.

Yes! Dragging the notes fixes the problem. I'm not sure if it was intended to be that way but it works and, for me, that's all that matters. Thanks again.
