selection of notes and stems

• Jan 31, 2020 - 16:23

There is a bug. When selecting notes to change stem directions, either up or down or auto, and select the stem button on inspector the selection of notes disappear except the first note of selection which can change. Use to be able to select several notes and measures to fix auto stems in correct direction. The notes shouldn't un-select when pressing the stem button in inspector. Doesn't matter what file one uses.

If I understand correctly, it's not a bug at all. The whole point of the Stem button is to select the stem instead of the note, so you can get the stem-specific settings. If notes stayed selected, youl would get only the generic "mixed selection" Inspector, which isn't very useful (although we're working on ideas to improve that).

To change stems direction, though, you don't need to do that at all. Just press "X", or change the "Stem direction" property of the Chord. That's not a workaround, it's how you do it.

? Stem directions should be determined automatically, and when you copy them they are recalculated again. unless the stems are for some reason locked into place, but typing can easily reset them all to auto by selecting the entire range and pressing Ctrl+R. Or to be safer, pressing Notes to limit selection to just the notes, then pressing the reset button next to the Stem direction setting.
