Drum input inputting annoying notes

I'm trying to write a drum line for my music, but every time I click on a different sound to use in the pallet, it puts that note into the score. It didn't used to do this, and it is extraordinarily annoying. I want to be able to click on a different sound without it automatically being written into the score. I already looked through preferences and I couldn't find anything
