Use scanned scores as a visual reference

• Apr 17, 2020 - 10:45

Hello! I'm quite new to musescore, but I'd like to know if the software has this function:
I have some piano scores that are quite old and not well preserved. If I scan them, can I load them into musescore and use them as a visual reference to compile a score?

There was (is?) an experimental feature for that, but nothing easily available.
It basically gave you a side by side view, but not that much more. Something you can also achieve by setting your PDF viewer and MuseScore itself in a side by side view on your computer.

You may also try the http://musescore.com/import facility. But it is equally experimental and if it succeeds you'll be in for a session of fixing up everything it got wrong.

Scan the image and save as a .PNG file. Create two Muscscore files and view them in spearate panes using View > Documents side by Side. Have one score with the usual staves etc. Have just a text box in the other score and drag the image file into that text box then re-size it to suit.
