Editing Note Duration
Hi. I am a recent member and am having some problems with altering the duration of a note after it has been entered onto the stave. My knowledge about music theory is way behind my ability to play and I am quite frustrated by this.
How do I do this please?

Select note, select new duration. Be aware that sorter durations make rests appear and longer duration 'eat' from the next note/rest

Hi. I'm new to the program and was attempting to place all the notes onto the sheet and then go back to change the duration of each note from the start. It doesn't seem to do this. So, I'm starting again and entering, checking, altering as I go. This is a good way to pass quarantine! 5 weeks down; 7 more to go then we'll be allowed out!

Note you can only change the duration of a note directly while not in note input mode. So if you're still in note input mode then wish to go back and change a duration, press Esc first, then click the note and select the new duration. MuseScore will try it's best to keep any other notes from moving earlier or later - it assumes you want them where you originally put them. If you want to take some existing notes and move them earlier or later as well, use cut and paste for that.
