Problems making custom shortcuts

• Apr 30, 2020 - 19:29

Hi
New here... ;-)
So, I'm trying to add custom shortcuts for adding interval below selected notes. Some of the combinations just doesn't work, even if they're available (at least I'm not notified otherwise when setting them up).

Any idea what might be wrong?

In order to say, we'd need to know which combinations, also which OS and which keyboard layout you have. Probably the combination you are choosing is reserved by the system you are running on.

Hi, and thanks for replying!

I'm on Windows 10, and the keyboard layout is - well, norwegian, which I can't see in the MuseScore list. I don't know if it corresponds with any of those included in the list. To make it more complicated, I'm on a laptop which does things like move the numpad into the general keyboard when num lock is activated - which has caused me some headaches when connecting and deconnecting a real keyboard... ;-) Maybe there's something weird going on there?

So, I'm trying to add the full list of 'add interval below', second through ninth. I've trying to add combinations like Alt+Ctrl+5 (replace number with corresponding interval), here only '6' worked. I also tried ALt+Shift+number, here all worked but 7 and 8.

I'm noticing, though, when I add the shortcut combinations, that I don't get the digit, but whatever the character is that's on the same key (either with shift or alt). In the list, they're all listed 'correctly' (eg. Shift+5), while I get '%'. Might this be part of the problem?

Hope this makes it easier to finding the problem. :-)

Thanks again!

On my system, the Cltr+Alt+number shortcuts 1-4 are taken already, for voice change. Ctrl+Alt+5 are set for beaming, but that doesn't seem to be the default, and I don't remember customizing them. But, the remaining one - Ctrl+Alt+9 - works fine.

Anyhow, my guess is something about your particular keyboard layout is indeed interfering with these.

Yes, I cleared conflicting shortcuts, of course. I also think that there's some conflict with keyboard layouts. I'll try to set up shortcuts on my desktop and see if that works better.

I still find it weird, though, that I can't use shift and any number combination, without it relating to the character connected to the button...
