system ques

hey folks

i have about 50 measures of bass notes i need to edit velocity for, but not for another 50. So, i wanted to create a system so i can use the 'SELECTION' filters to make a change to SAME VOICE/SAME SYSTEM.

So - i see the 'System Break' spacer in the palette to END a system. I assumed you start a system via a horizontal frame.

However, i must be doing something wrong, as when i choose my selection 'same voice/same system/same staff' only 2 measures of notes get selected. No matter where i try this, its always 2 measures.

what am i doing wrong in creating the system? I looked through the handbook, and cannot find the answer.

thanks

cant use the 2nd - ive already put USER on most of the notes, so the dynamic marks dont effect them. but i will try the selection methods.

however - regarding the systems - can i 'extend' the system over a range of measures beyond the single page? sort of a 'virtual' page?

It's possible you are misunderstanding what a system is. It's a single "line" of music read left to right, encompassing a staff (or two, for piano etc) for each instrument in the score. There is practically no way you can get 50 measures onto a single system unless your page is huge or notation tiny. Probably there are actually only two measures on that system. If you believe otherwise, please attach the score and describe in more detail what you are trying to select.

Anyhow, you don't need to worry about systems for this. To select all notes in a 50 measure range for a single staff, select the range (eg, click first measure, Shift+click last), then right-click a note and use Select / All Similar Elements in Range Selection. That works no matter how many systems are taken up by those 50 measures.
