As you've seen in the other thread, the way to go about this that looses the least information is to export to MusicXML in MS3 and then open that in MS2

I've tried as you've said, but it didn't work.
My MUS2 says the file is an unknown type

MuseScore 3.5 (available as an Alpha) allows export to .xml directly again (see #271445: Include .xml suffix for export
