Automatically Number Duplicate Instrument Names
Hi, I am wondering why Musescore does not automatically number duplicate instruments (ex. two violin parts will be named "Violin 1 / Vln. 1" and "Violin 2 / Vln. 2". When making orchestral scores with multiple flutes, clarinets, horns, etc. numbering the instruments takes a long time. Is there some reason for not numbering? Perhaps a feature could be added to the instruments dialog?

Use a template, an existing one of one you create yourself
It actually does, when first creating the score, not when adding more later. And the various templates come pre-numbered where appropriate.

Hi Marc, could you explain what you mean by "it actually does, when first creating the score"? I apologize for not understanding.

I left out the part about this starting in 3.5. So as of the current 3.5 alpha, just go to File / New, click Choose Instruments, add the instruments you want, and they will be numbered automatically.

Awesome, thanks. And as JoJo said, if you want more customization, save a template.
