stems and beams
Is it possible to change beam groupings locally - e.g. in just in one measure?
I imported a file as a musicxml file and observe that if the stems are right direction in the transposed score (eg alto sax), when viewed at concert pitch, the stems do not change - is this a result of the musicxml import? can it be corrected?

MusicXML indeed often records an explicit stem direction.
Select all stems (right-click one → Select all similar elements) and then set their direction to "auto" using the inspector (F8)
