Page Layout: Format | Style | Page vs Format | Page Settings

I use Musescore mainly for vocal lead sheets (treble clef only with melody, lyrics and chord symbols). I'm finding it difficult to format printed output so that the footer (which I use to identify Title, date of last revising and Page x of x) doesn't get truncated and/or directly abut bottom staff. I recently noticed that what gets printed on the 8.5"x11" paper is different depending on how I choose to print the score:
[a] Print directly to printer
[b] Print to PDF995 device-driver which writes output as a PDF file, which Adobe Reader prints to printer
[c] Export to a PDF file, which Adobe Reader prints to printer.

Method [a] results in narrower margins left, right, top and bottom and the lower portion of the footer being truncated. Eyeballing it, left and right margins seem to match margin-size from Format | Page Settings (0.3").

Methods [b] and [c] result in wider margins and no truncation, Eyeballing it, top and bottom margins seem to match margin size from Format | Style | Page (0.5" and 0.6"). Oddly, Format | Style | Page doesn't show ANY setting for left and right margins.

I can't figure out why the margin settings would be different in the two locations and which parameters to alter to get a consistent result? Also, I wonder if a parameter exists to specific a minimum space between the Header and the top staff and the Footer and the bottom staff.

The detailed pages in the on-line handbook are very helpful, but I could really use an overview that explains how the various settings interact (e.g. why have two conflicting margin settings?). Does such an overview exist anywhere? If not, would that be something covered in the on-line Mastering MuseScore tutorial?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Adobe uses 'print to fit' ("Adjust"?, "Anpassen" in German) by default. I guess the seting "Actual size"(?, Tatsächliche Größe" in German") would match what File > Print does?

There are no page margin settings in Format / Style, only music margins. These control the space between the music (ie, the staff) and the page margin. This space is there for notes on ledger liens above the staff, text, etc. The page margin is the part that music won't be allowed to creep into, so if you have text etc way above you staff, extra space will be created to make sure your music doesn't enter the page margin.

I believe the handbook includes a diagram illustrating these? My online Mastering MuseScore talks about this as well.
