nOTE SIZE

1.Just for query sake, Is there anyway to increase the size of the notes without playing around with the page scaling.
I'm going to increase staff line distance and increase note size to fit without messing around with my A5 booklet. The reduce the measure distance to squash it up with smaller font such as Arial narrow.
And then reducing the stave distance to make up for the increase note size and line distance.
I've got a tiny bit of room on the page to do this.

  1. Also is there a feature that shows what I've done on my score sheet. Much like the paragraph mark that exposes features in Word.

  1. You could attempt to abuse the small setting if you don't have any small notes and set it to scale 120% for example.
But I do keep wondering why you're so adamant on not using the setting made for this. Page scaling is exactly the setting that combines increasing both the notes as well as the staff line distance uniformly. You can in addition change minimal distance settings / font choices and/or fiddle with stretch to horizontally condense your score again.
Abusing the small note scaling and manually switching of line distance wouldn't magically fix all those other settings or their interaction with your score. I wouldn't expect any less changes required on those than if you'd just use the scaling option.

  2. I don't understand this request; probably because I don't know the Word feature you're referring to.

Indeed, what you are trying to do is much more effort, and as you can see it actually do what you want. You should not be changing the line distance setting, it was never intended for this. You should simply increase the staff space setting (scaling) in Format / Page Settings. It does exactly what you want, perfectly, no need to mess with anything else.

If you add system breaks in MuseScore, they do show up in the score, in exactly the same way as paragraph marks in Word. Your score just doesn't have any. But, select a measure and hit Enter and that adds one.

Hi Marc
Thanks, I realise that, you've said it before. but I'd still like to know if they can be changed to slightly bigger. I'm trying to copy another format. I didn't put any breaks as it doesn't need any if I use the scaling, as it adjusts itself..I'm wanting to put into an A5 booklet with less stretch and higher notation. much like one would use Arial narrow to shorten the lyrics or AgencyFB gives height but narrow. I hope this helps you understand my plan. If you notice it scaled to 150% there is still a little room for notes to be larger. If you scale to 200% there is also some room. I'd like the notes to entirely fill the line space. Is it possible? Thanks I can't find that facility for this score.

Actually if I reduce the line distance, it might just do the trick. i'll try it. Rather than mess around with the note size. Yep it worked. thanks for your help, it sparked that thought. Font changed to skinny AGencyFB All solved. Reduced the chord size in Inspector. This is my template. Just need to reduce the lyrics line distance.

Yes, but now you're actually back where you started - nothing is actually big. Now, go to Format / Page Settings and increase the staff space, which will maker everything scale larger. Page size remains the same, and this particular piece still fits very easily on one page. But if you find for other pieces, increasing the staff space makes the music takes additional pages, you can reduce horizontal spacing - similar to what you describe as using a "narrow" font. To do this, reduce Spacing in Format / Style / Measure (this is the baseline to which the "stretch" overrides apply).

Hi
I'll do what you said. Yes. I've got what I want now without mucking around. What an easy fix that was to decrease line width. I just needed to reduce the horizontal space lines. They are fitting on one page real good. And the font gives me more staff-between-space. I need a dictionary. I did look at the To do this, reduce Spacing in Format / Style / Measure (this is the baseline to which the "stretch" overrides apply). But i couldn't fathom what was what. so I tried everything. I did the maximum measure width to 4.00. Can't default it though. And -apply to all parts -isn't highlighted. but it does slightly shift the measures smaller. I'm happy n ow though. They are working just fine. thanks. But weird that the font doesn't stay put for the second verse etc. Seems no default for all my score. I've done a template though. I also pulled the chord down closer to the staff, and made them smaller font. But when I print they will go on two pages when I adjust again but good for laptop on one page.
