Just out of curiosity, I took a look at the disproportion of users

I've long heard similar numbers, usually in terms of monthly website visits or whatever. I'm curious what these numbers represent and where you got them?

Anyhow, it doesn't surprise me. People come to musescore.org because they want to download MuseScore or get help using it. So, users are mostly people creating sheet music. People go to musescore.com to get sheet music, so the market is largely people wanting to read sheet music. I have no trouble believing that's a much larger group of potential users.

On deducing total head count from ids... Presumably you found someone who signed up just a day ago and noted their serial number.

Interestingly, when I was studying statistics years ago, one of my books said that during WWII, the Germans numbered their U-Boats consecutively with U99, eg, painted on the conning tower. The British noted what numbers they saw in somewhat random encounters. From this information, they were able to make a good estimate of the total number of subs. Later the Germans realized this and changed the system. I don't claim to know the details of this.
