Chord/Rest Duration option does not work in linked tablature.

• Aug 27, 2020 - 21:41

When I use the Chord/Rest duration option on a chord symbol used on a linked tablature staff to realize a chord, it doesn't work. It defaults to the "Until next Chord Symbol" Duration option. It works fine on non guitar tablature staffs. Not reporting as a bug yet because maybe this is intended behavior - or something that can't be fixed - but I don't know why it would be intended behavior. Just to be clear, the linked tablature staff DOES have rests.

Another related issue that, I am not sure is intended behavior, a glitch, maybe should be an enhancement. When you realize a chord on a staff, it puts it as a quarter note regardless of the note/rest you put the chord symbol on. Oddly, when you do it on a guitar tab, it realizes the chord as a whole note regardless of the duration of the rest.

It sounds like you are talking about the Realize Chord Symbols command? Can you post a score and precise steps to reproduce the problem? For me it works as expect in the examples I've tried, except if I invoke the command the right-click menu, it actually executes it before I have a chance to override to options.

I hadn't yet, but just did. For me it actually crashes there in my test build, but I can see why it wouldn't, why it might just produce wrong results, in a "release" build (which the nightlies are). So, thanks for reporting this! Can you add it to the issue tracker?

The problem here is specific to chord symbols that are attached to fret diagrams, and also only when using the "Chord/Rest Duration" option. I don't think it's related to linked staves or tablature or rests.
