indicating next note at the end of a line

• Sep 2, 2020 - 15:29

Dears!
Please see two attached images. Both contain pre-positioned signs, one of them key-, the other time signatures at the end of the previous line to help to read the notation.
My idea, which can significantly help me if it is possible to realize, is to put the first (couple of) note(s) of the next line to the end of each lines, similarly to that is presented with keys and time signatures.
Has anybody the idea how can I make this? Thanks!

Do you mean courtesy notes (telling you what you will play next?).

The purpose of these courtesy time and key signatures is to warn you that there is about to be a change. In the case of the key signature, which is at the start of every line of music, it is easy to miss this if there is no courtesy signature. We recently dealt with this in a project I'm working on.

Courtesy notes just don't fit with modern notation and I would strongly advise against even doing this if you figure out a way to make it happen since an experience musician would end up playing the courtesy notes then the actual notes on the next line.

Even though this is ill-advised, if I knew how to do this in MuseScore I'd tell you because you have the freedom to do what you want. The problem is I don't know how to do this without inserting another measure and putting the key or time signature at the beginning of that measure. You will want to repeat the time signature on the next system, the key signature will already be there. The problem with this is that it will cause playback issues that would make it useless for choir members to practice.

There is one possibility I can think of to overcome the playback issue. Put a closed volta (one from the palette with a vertical line on each end) on the measure in question and set it's play list to at least one more than the number of times this measure is played. If it's not in a repeat a closed second volta would do the trick. If this is in the middle of a repeat, make the playlist a number that's higher than the number of times this measure is played. You can then make the volta invisible so it will look like what you want.

I didn't test this so let me know how it works - it should.

Excellent mike320, It works!
I prepared a version using Shoichi's sheet, in accordance with your idea and advices. I insert an additional staff break and made some minor configurations. The result probably wil not confuse the performer.
Thank you all for quick help!
