Noteheads possible in tablature ... in place of frets?

Is it possible to set selected tablature fret numbers to a type of notehead?

I'm sure this probably seems nonsensical, but I do it all the time and can achieve this effect in Overture. only need them on lines, not spaces.

I'd like the option of the following noteheads in tablature:

whole
half
quarter
eighth
X (mute/dead)
slash/strum (with unique markings for down vs. up)
and optionally" any symbol I add to the noteheads palette

Not currently. And not sure to all understand.
What are the wished results and use cases? (images, published scores? )

Nevertheless, you can obtain "X" (dead notes) with shortcut Shift + X
And slashes: menu "Tools" -> Fill with slashes (if desired, you can define a custom shortcut in Preferences/Shortcuts)

As far as I can tell that isn't tablature in any conventional sense at all. It's not telling you which fret to use, so it's really just standard notation but with a non-standard set of staff lines. So, don't define this as tablature but as a standard staff, then play with the various settings for line spacing etc in Staff Properties and you might possibly be able to fake this.

I'm not quite aware of such functionality.
Any reason you're looking to work from tablature rather than from a standard staff if the notation features you're looking for exist on a standard staff?

(Disclaimer: I'm aware you're looking into alternative notation, but I have not taken the time to read anything you've linked wrt scordatura yet)

Hi jeetee,

As you can see in the image (that I've just now posted) I need the notation on a tablature staff. And I need the option of toggling selected frets numbers to display as various noteheads; the option to toggle notehead display back to fret numbers is essential as well.

The example shows most fret numbers replaced with the solid notehead, the one used in quarter notes and smaller.
