No Sound when entering notes

Hi, All -

When I'm entering a note, I do not get any sound. I have to enter the note, then click away and click back onto the note. When I click back on the note, it works fine. It's only when I"m actually inputting that I get silence. I couldn't find a preference box that said anything like "allow sound when entering note." Is there such a thing?
