Why a quarter note default for N-ote input?

One question:
Why is the N (Note inpute by step) a quarter by default?
When I left the note input modus ( to work with the mouse for ex) an come to it again - I would really like to prefer a note length that I used at last (and is shown at the tool bar).

Ah sorry for my thoughts. The Tool bar shows also the rests ... so everything´s ok.
